Making Progress

I found out on New Year's Eve that my sister is engaged! I was quite surprised and thrilled to get this news, but there is so much going on right now it seemed like it would be a little difficult to be a good sister and maid of honor and give her the support she needs. Well, I think this weekend helped that situation out a little bit. I took my very first trip down to Farmington, New Mexico - where my sister, Caitlyn, lives with her fiance, Tom. They have an adorable house and a super cute dog to boot! :-) While I was down there, we actually got A LOT done... considering. She has a DATE, and a location!! (We also met a great florist, found an awesome place for a reception, and started figuring out some other key details as well) She also has a plane ticket to come to DENVER (YAY!) to look at wedding dresses before I leave. The shop in Farmington was... lacking, to put it lightly.
As far as the adventures of Pete and Christine go...I actually have a plane ticket now, so I guess I'm really moving. My date of departure is now set for February 10th. So, if you are reading this, and you're thinking, 'Hey, that's still a ways away' - well give me a call!  I miss Pete so much right now, but I'm having such a good time seeing friends and family that I know the time will fly by!

... And we're off (Pete is at least)

Well, I think our adventure officially began last night. I took Pete to DIA around 4:00 yesterday, after the movers finished packing up what was left of our house. Everything that we are bringing to remind us of beautiful Colorado fit into one wooden box. Needless to say, things are about to start getting a little bit crazy, new, unknown, strange, etc.
Pete's flight was at 6:49 PM to Toronto (where he had a 10-hour layover before boarding the plane for Abu Dhabi), and the very nice pregnant lady at the United counter offered to give me a 'Security Checkpoint Pass' so that I could go all the way to the gate! I didn't know they still let people do that!! Pete should be arriving in Abu Dhabi early on Friday morning (Thursday night for us, they are 11 hours ahead). He has one day to recover from jet lag (NOT an easy task, since he's  basically switching nights and days) and then he has his first day of work on Saturday (I guess it's a workday there?)
As for me, I will be hanging out in various parts of the state to pass the time while Pete is away. I have yet to book my plane ticket out there, but right now it is looking like I'll be shipping off in early February. I wanted to have a chance to see my friends and family before I left. The last two months are so have been so hectic with the wedding and the holidays that I didn't get a good chance to spend time with anyone. So I'll be couch-hopping while Pete is buried at work. Hopefully, things will have settled down at least a little bit by the time I get there. Wish us luck!!

Also, I have to give some credit to our awesome photographer, Bart. He took the photo at the top of the page, and I seriously LOVE IT! Hopefully, I'll have some more photos to post soon.
